Big Laughing Jim

Big Laughing Jim is from the family Cortinariaceae. This mushroom is described as a big orange-yellow mushroom with a ring on its stalk. It also grows in clusters among trunks and tree stumps from August to October. This mushroom usually grows as a network of mycelium on rotting logs, and tree roots. Its cap usually ranges in color from orange to fawn. It also has tiny smooth scales. Its gills and spore print are normally yellow or rust and the spacing of the gills are rather crowded. It smells similar to anise and has a bitter taste.
